Research Works :

Faculty members are engaged in research work in different fields like environmental chemistry, phytochemistry, geo-chemistry, polymer chemistry, material chemistry etc.

Presently 10 research students are working for their doctoral work in the department.

Research Projects :

The following TWO research projects with Dr. P.K.Dutta as PI are undergoing in the department:

1. "New Preparative Method for Chitin form Crab Shell and its Applications to Super Water Absorbent Smart Gels" - UGC Major Project (2003-2008)

2. "Synthesis and optical properties of novel biopolymer: Chitosan derivatives containing non linear optical chromophores”- CSIR Research Project (2007-2010).

Consultancy Works :

The Department undertakes consultancy, chemical testing from government/private organisations or public departments.
