MESSAGE
Welcome to the Center for Interdisciplinary
Research (CIR) at Motilal Nehru National
Institute of Technology Allahabad. The
center has been created to promote
cross-disciplinary research involving the
field of Engineering, Physical, Chemical and
Life Sciences. The CIR is established with
an aim to provide an on-campus user facility
to our undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral
and postdoctoral researchers and also to
other Academic Institutions, Research
Organizations and Industries from all over
the country. The CIR also looks forward for
collaborative research proposals from
foreign institution from different parts of
the globe.
The necessity of creation of the center
emerged from the increasing need for
interdisciplinary research for development
of product prototypes to cater to the demand
of the Industry. It has been envisaged to
provide all high-end machines and equipment
under one roof so as to avoid duplication in
various departments and also to make optimum
utilization of the facilities. The CIR has
already succeeded in developing a number of
novel electronic devices and sensors using
non-conventional materials. The focus zone
of the Centre encompasses experimental
research in the emerging areas of micro- and
nano-electronics, composite nano-materials,
organic polymers, nanophotonics, micro-and
nano-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS),
chemical sensors, nano bio-sensors,
nano-biomedical systems, non-conventional
energy devices. The Center also provides
powerful commercial software tools for
simulation and virtual fabrication and
characterization of novel devices and
systems. The Center also aims to promote
filing of patents, IPR and incubation of
inventions till commercialization of the
products.
Finally I urge all serious researchers to
come forward and visit the Center and have
the proud privilege to be a part of the
dedicated research group whose mission is to
advance the knowledge for the development of
the country and eventually the mankind.
