MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj advances accessibility! A dedicated AI Smart Glasses Corner has been launched in the Central Library to support visually impaired students. These AI-enabled glasses read printed / digital text in real time and convert it into audio, empowering students to study independently. The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Prof. R. S. Verma (Director, MNNIT), Mr. Chandrashekhar (National Organizing Secretary, Saksham), Dr. Kamla Kant Pandey (National Vice President, SAKSHAM), Mr. Ranjan Vajpeyi, and faculty members Prof. Asheesh Singh, Prof. Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Dheeraj Ahuja, Dr. Binayaka Nahak, Dr. Somen Day, Dr. Suantak Kamsolian, Dr. Ankur Gaur, and Dr. Ritesh Sahu, along with many students. Out of 66 visually impaired students on campus, 12–15 will begin using the AI smart glasses in the first phase. Wheelchairs have also been placed at major locations across campus, along with special cushions and lumbar-support belts for students with spinal disabilities. A meeting with IIHMF Directors, Prof. Ravi Prakash Tiwari, Prof. Ramesh Pandey, and Prof. Basant Singh, discussed a proposed tripartite MoU to establish a Divyang Seva Kendra focussing on 21 disability categories, innovation in assistive devices, and development of new inclusive technologies. Saksham has also proposed providing 5 mobile phones to support future AI-based assistive solutions. MNNIT Allahabad continues to move forward with accessibility, inclusion, and technological empowerment.
