Regional Center for Geodesy (RCG), GIS Cell, MNNIT Allahabad is organising a five days short-term course on Fundamentals of Geodesy from 18th -22nd March 2024 sponsored by National Geospatial Programme (erstwhile NRDMS), DST, Govt of India. The course is inaugurated by Prof. A. K. Singh, Dean R&C, MNNIT Allahabad. Prof. V. K. Srivastava, Chairperson GIS Cell welcomed the participants and provided brief introduction about ongoing research and development in GIS Cell. Dr. Ramji Dwivedi, Associate professor GIS Cell and Course Coordinator provided the course structure and ongoing development in Geodesy education and research as well as highlighted the scarcity of resource persons in Geodesy education and research. He emphasised the efforts of DST in this direction by establishing National and a regional center for Geodesy for spreading Geodesy education. This is the 1st edition of Geodesy course series. Participants are mainly PhD students of prestigious universities and institutions of Prayagraj. Prof. B. Nagarajan, Visiting Professor, IIT Kanpur will deliver a few expert lectures during the course.
