Title: Resonant Power Conversion: Insights from a Lifetime of Experience

Abstract:

This presentation highlights some of the work that the author has done in the field of resonant power conversion for nearly the past 40 years. The work presented here is based on practical resonant converters designed for induction heating, space, telecommunications, and renewable energy applications. This work contains ready-to-use information that can help design similar converters and/or devise new ones.

Short Biography:

Prof. Praveen Jain is Canada Research Chair in Power Electronics and Director of the Queen's University Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePOWER).

Dr. Jain holds a PhD from the University of Toronto.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). He is the recipient of the 2011 William E. Newell Award in Power Electronics from IEEE, of the Engineering Medal (R&D) from the Professional Engineers of Ontario and of the Queen's Prize for Research Excellence.

His research contributions have resulted in over 550 publications and 114 patents (issued and pending). He has received over $33M in external research funding.
