National Technical Manpower Information Systems (NTMIS) is a scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India in 1983 to provide up-to-date and meaningful manpower information on a continuing basis to enable the concerned authorities to anticipate areas of growth in the field of science and technology and consequently plan for technical manpower development on a scientific basis. This scheme is funded by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The NTMIS comprises a Lead Centre at the Institute of Applied Manpower Research (I.A.M.R), Delhi and 20 Nodal Centre's located at different parts of the country. The Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Centre is functioning in Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad since 1999.
The main objectives of the NTMIS is to estimate the long term and short term requirement of technical manpower in the country and their supply on the basis of the intake and the outturn figures; and to provide forecasts about the adequacy and shortage of manpower requirements in future years. The Annual Reports and other reports published by the Nodal centre has generated interest among various users groups like students, parents, education and employment planners, career guidance counselors, government officials and researchers. The information is utilized by the user agencies and we have received encouraging feed backs and opinions.
